September 2025
Continuing on from my previous completion of Kinder Scout, I set my eyes towards the North York Moors and Roseberry Topping.
I planned for a longer walk around Roseberry topping out towards Highcliffe Nab to make the journey a bit longer as the original walk from the car park up to Roseberry Topping and back would have been half the time it took to drive there. I’m glad I did as the walk followed a portion of the Cleveland Way and had some really nice walks through high ferns and along the moors. I then continued on through the Hutton Lowcross Woods and up towards Bousdale Woods before walking towards Roseberry Topping from the North which gave some lovely views.
It was a decently warm day despite some storm warnings ongoing and I had thankfully remembered my hat this time! Roseberry Topping was a beautiful sight and you can see why it was nicknamed “The Mini Matterhorn” with its unique shape, A leftover from a landslide during its old days as a mining site, All-in-all it was a really scenic route and a wonderful walk.
I’ll link the OSMap route I designed Here
